Our Savannah office is located in a professional medical suite building on the 6600 block of Abercorn Street, one of the city’s primary north-south corridors. Suite 102 is on the ground floor, making it straightforward to access without navigating stairwells. The building has accessible parking directly in front and along the side lot, with designated accessible spaces close to the entrance. GLP-1 Medications and Weight Loss Services Offered
At Scale Solutions Savannah, Dr. Gates provides medically supervised weight management programs built around the individual patient. All treatment decisions are made within the context of your health history, current medications, and personal goals. Services available at this location include:
- Semaglutide (GLP-1) — A once-weekly injectable medication that works on appetite-regulating pathways in the brain. Semaglutide is clinically established for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with a related condition.
- Tirzepatide (GIP/GLP-1 dual agonist) — A newer dual-receptor medication that targets two hormone pathways simultaneously, offering additional options for patients who may benefit from a different mechanism.
- Comprehensive GLP-1 Weight Loss Program — Ongoing physician monitoring, dosage adjustments, and support throughout your treatment journey.
- Lipotropic and B12 Injections — Adjunctive therapy to support energy metabolism during weight loss.
- Appetite Management Counseling — Structured guidance on behavioral and nutritional strategies to reinforce medication effects.
- Nutrition Planning — Individualized dietary recommendations from Dr. Gates calibrated to your treatment protocol.
About Dr. Donald L. Gates, MD
Scale Solutions was founded and is led by Dr. Donald L. Gates, MD, a physician with more than two decades of focused experience in bariatric medicine. Dr. Gates completed his medical training at Loma Linda University, a nationally recognized institution with a long history in preventive and lifestyle medicine. He has practiced in the field of weight management since 1999, giving him a depth of clinical perspective on the evolving landscape of obesity treatment — including the transition from earlier pharmacological approaches to today’s GLP-1 receptor agonist era.
Dr. Gates is fluent in Spanish and provides Spanish-language appointments for patients who prefer to discuss their health in their primary language. Scale Solutions is built on the principle that patients deserve straightforward, judgment-free conversations about weight and health — regardless of how long they have struggled or what they have tried before.
His clinical experience predates the current GLP-1 era, which means he brings a contextual understanding of why earlier interventions may have failed for many patients. That history informs how he explains treatment options, sets realistic expectations, and tailors medication protocols to the individual rather than applying a uniform approach.
Scale Solutions is a single-physician practice. Dr. Gates is the only provider at this location.
Insurance and Pricing
Weight loss medications and physician-supervised programs occupy a complicated space within traditional insurance coverage. Scale Solutions works with patients to navigate their options as transparently as possible.
- Self-Pay Packages: Visit our pricing page and packages overview for current rates on medication programs and office visits.
- Medicare GLP-1 Bridge: For Medicare patients, GLP-1 medications for weight loss are not currently covered under standard Medicare Part D. However, Scale Solutions offers a Medicare GLP-1 bridge program to help eligible patients access treatment at a manageable cost. This program is specific to Georgia patients.
- Insurance Review: We will review your insurance situation during your initial consultation and provide clear guidance on what is and is not covered before you make any commitment.
What to Expect at Your First Visit
If you have never visited a medical weight loss provider before, it is natural to wonder what the process looks like. At Scale Solutions, your first appointment is a comprehensive consultation — not a sales pitch. Dr. Gates will review your health history, discuss your weight loss history and goals, assess whether GLP-1 medications are appropriate for you, and answer any questions you have about the process.
Many patients come to their first appointment having already done considerable research on semaglutide or tirzepatide. Some have tried these medications through telehealth-only services and want more direct clinical supervision. Others are entirely new to GLP-1 treatment. In all cases, the first visit is designed to give Dr. Gates a complete picture of your health and give you a complete picture of your options — before any prescription is written or payment is processed. Plan for approximately 45–60 minutes for your first appointment.
